Very good compilation of articles.

This book is a must have for everyone planning to or currently designing vlsi high performance circuits. Covers initials/reviews of mos transistors from mid-to-deep physics to simple components and then to further more complicated circuits. Interesting to mention that the authors compile a set of related articles published on highly respected journals. Cons are that many times those coverage are superficial, condensed to one page and leads you to deeper research on the original references. Pros are that you have, in only one place, a whole compilation of good articles in the area. I think this is the most interesting aspect of the book, because once you study the concepts covered, you have good knowledge to understand those articles. Overall, the book outperforms many other books, both in coverage and in the level of detail on each topic.

excellent book for fundamentals/reference

I used the first edition of this book in my graduate class. I found the book well-written with good examples and explanations. It also covers a diverse range of subjects and I still find myself referring to it when I have doubts. If you are having problems with understanding fundamentals, I highly recommend this book as a reference.

Bad printing quality, many typos

The printing quality is terrible. A low quality publication for such a high price. It is like the foreign edition, no color. There are streaks of white across most of the pages, which make the text and pictures difficult to read. The book appears to have been eaten badly by the printing machine, because every page has the same crease pattern.

Seems to be a decent text on digital MOSFET circuits. My professor spoke highly of it. However, there are MANY typographical errors. Ridiculous.

Sad, Sad Stories

I am a loud and proud Gregg Olsen fan, but this book was a disappointment; It is not poorly written, but rather a compilation of several high profile crimes of recent history, including, but not limited to, the cases involving Mark Hacking, Josh Powell and Warren Jeff's. But all of these summaries could have been written by a talented High School student in an AP English class. It is completely devoid of any of Olsen's storytelling skills. In addition these stories are painfully sad, and as they are only summation of longer stories, there isn't even room at the end for updates of the survivors of the crimes, details that leave the reader often hopeful that although people have suffered, their suffering either led to new laws or policies that may save someone future pain, or knowing that survivors of crimes have risen above the worst experience of their lives and triumphed. Again, not poorly written but not much redeeming either.

Olsen didn't describe anything that I didn't already know from news reports. I doubt that I will buy any more Note USA books.

It Is Happening Again.

To begin; this is a spoiler free review, from a passionate fan.

Like the millions of fans over the years who have found the realm of Twin Peaks so obsessively compelling, went into this with a nearly insurmountable sense of anticipation, and expectation. It is undeniable the profound influence David Lynch had in bringing Peaks into our collective consciousness to enjoy. But he thrives off collaborative artistic energy, and what his partner in crime Mr. Frost brings to our favored series is every bit as vital. You can feel their synergy throughout this new literary contribution. Having read The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, The Autobiography of Special Agent Dale Cooper, and having a hyper-mnemonic recall of key plot points of the series, The Secret History of Twin Peaks actually has much more in common with the lesser read but immensely enjoyable Welcome to Twin Peaks Access Guide.

There are links to be made here that will delight you. Others will wow you. The degree of inference and desire to process the lengthy, logical dissertations will depend on the reader. But if you dare to be drawn in, there are subtle hints and tantalizing clues to be found in those historical recollections. Vestiges of paranoia and a sense of wondrous curiosity permeate the narrative. There are a few “Eureka!” moments. There is the underlying mystery of the Archivist (who I figured out about 30 pages in and it diminished my enjoyment not in the slightest.) There is resolution and some small degree of closure. But what is most prevalent is the illustration of the grander design of what is to come with the 3rd season. Most of the material is done with a scholar’s perspective. Embrace that, and you’ll get some significant realizations that are positively awe inspiring.

There are a few continuity errors that hardcore fans of the series will detect immediately. It is possible Mr. Frost didn’t review as much of the second season’s minor subplots that were written by the other writers. And he would rightfully have that privilege. He and David are the authors of this world, and can make such revisions as they see fit. But there's enough to arouse suspicion that this may be intentional. Between two worlds, indeed. The photographs of some characters are largely repeats from promotional materials or screen captures we have seen before. But… some of the pictures (and artwork) are almost chilling. Some are true revelations.

What’s past is truly prologue here, and as I ravenously devoured this today over the course of 6 ½ hours I returned back to my 18 year old self who was so mesmerized and taken all those years ago with this spiritual procedural. Such rich texture has been afforded to us here it might take several readings to absorb the possibilities! Thank you, Mr. Frost for your due diligence in choosing to enlighten us with the broad strokes and the pinpoint brushes. It Is Happening Again.

Great read, but get the physical book, not the Kindle version…

I ordered the Kindle version of this book and just started it earlier today. Mark Frost's book looks awesome, and I can't wait to read all of it. But I would recommend that it NOT be ordered in Kindle format, as some of the 'documents' in the book show up so small that it's impossible to read them; this is like scanned text or photocopies, not Kindle text, so increasing the font size doesn't do anything to help. I am SOOOO looking forward to 'Twin Peaks - 25 Years Later' on Showtime in 2017 - all this new TP activity is really exciting!!!

You should read this before you open up the book. Spoiler free review.

This is not a novel in the traditional fashion. What it is, is a collection of letters, documents, newspaper clippings, and photos. These start way back with Lewis and Clark and go all the way forward to now. It’s a bit slow in the first 100 pages but after that the collection hits its stride. It becomes suggestive, gloomy, and quirky; much like the series.

The attention to detail is really nice. The footnotes are distracting, but they do add to the overall body and contain their own add-in of data. The cover is beautiful, and I am surprised the price wasn’t higher. The cover is highly embossed and gives it the feel of a book much older than it is. It is apparent that pride was taken in making this, and it is something that Mark Frost should be proud to have his name on.

Does it answer questions?
Heck yes it does. Sometimes those answers are subtle; a single line in a document. Other times it’s a headline about a bank explosion that you can’t un see. DON’T flip through it casually if you want to read it the whole way through. Yes, the answers are there for a whole lot of things you may have wondered, and a lot of things that may not have dawned on you no matter how many times you have read it.

Are there any bad points?
Maybe. It depends on what you want. If you want something that tells the story in a way that is very fitting of the Twin Peaks world, this is the book for you. If you want a novel to just read through, you may be disappointed. The one bad thing for me was about every 50 pages there would be something incorrect for the time period, like cellophane on a 1947 pack of cigarettes, or a 1800s’ era person using a bit of modern slang. This isn’t an issue once it gets to the 1960s’ and if you are not big into history it’s quite possible that you wouldn’t even notice. It just broke the continuity for me which was a bummer since I was trying to get back into the Twin Peaks feel.

A lot of material produced for a TV show or movie tend to be filler to make more dollars from a franchise. This book was written for fans, by folks who care about the fans and the Twin Peaks world. It answers a lot of questions, but still leaves enough unsaid that season three will be very welcome. I think this book does exactly what Mark Frost said it would, bridge the gap between the seasons.

LE MOT PUTAIN

À Paris, putain est plus qu'un mot. C'est une béquille. Une béquille pour les gênes sociales et mentales du Parisien. Il est impossible d'avoir une conversation de plus de cinq minutes avec un Parisien sans entendre résonner le son de la béquille. Cela est vrai, sauf si vous êtes vous-même du cru. Les Parisiens ont développé une aptitude rare : celle de ne jamais remarquer le son de la béquille. Le mot putain a simplement disparu à l'oreille du Parisien.
Le nom putain renvoie à une prostituée. L'interjection, elle, ne renvoie à personne. Dans son usage le plus commun, elle exprime avec vivacité des sentiments typiquement parisiens tels que le mécontentement, la colère ou la frustration... dans les bouchons : «Putain, mais c'est pas possible !» ; à propos de son patron : «Il est complètement con, putain...» Dans ces circonstances particulières, le mot a valeur de ponctuation - tantôt majuscule, tantôt point final. C'est de loin l'usage le plus fréquent du mot.

Mais le terme sait dépasser ce petit cantonnement. Putain, à Paris, définit aussi la surprise. Un ciel ensoleillé : «Oh ! Putain, il fait beau» ; un coup d'oeil sur la montre : «Putain, il est déjà 2 heures ?» Plus péremptoire, il devient alors injonction ferme à cesser séance tenante galéjades et forfanteries : «Attends, putain, deux secondes», «Putain, t'es sérieux ?»... Dans la même veine, utilisé seul, il exprimera tout à la fois l'intérêt et la compassion lorsque sera annoncée une triste nouvelle.
Parisien 1 : Et c'est là que son mari l'a quittée.
Parisien 2 : Putain.
Parisien 1 : Ouais, et donc elle se retrouve avec trois gamins...

People capable of the Fronde have never really been subjugated. Invaders who establish themselves just sort of get ripped off and told to return with more money when they don't have any more to spend. I love Paris and Parisians. Paris is a a monument to freedom and I am upset by how dirty and polluted it has become.

Tape in missing pages??

There is nothing wrong with the contents of this book. My bass teacher recommended it and it is worth having in your library.
Here is my Major Complaint. I opened the book and a page fell out. It reads as follows "ERRATA SHEET", " Please accept this errata sheet to replace page 68." Nope sorry. I paid twenty-five bucks for this book and I don't want to have to paste in a misprinted page! The publisher printed two of the same pages and put one of them out of numerical order (I checked it against my teacher's 20 year old book...much better with a spiral binding). Misprint a page? No problem. Just let your customer scotch tape the correct one in their book. B.S.! I want my money back!
In addition, the foreward by Bery Gordy (as printed on the cover of this book) spelled his name "Berry." Good grief, where was this book printed?

Helpful for the test

I started to use the accounts payables book for my test. This book gave me a good, clear understanding of what the test is going to be like. The questions are well-researched and correct, and it’s a book that you can use multiple times in order to practice for the tests. After practicing a few times, I feel like I’m ready for the Oracle exam in this section of it.
